One of the most important reasons to promote STEM education is it will elevate the public understanding of how science, technology, and innovation affect our lives. This will create a better-informed public empowered with an understanding of the tradeoffs they are making every day for the sake of convenience. We need a citizenry with enough understanding of the issues to dictate where we should draw lines as a society on tough issues like cybersecurity and privacy. Exposure to STEM education, cyber skills training, and civics education throughout schooling creates informed citizens in an increasingly science and tech driven world.
